But you could, like, watch a several impactful movies in the same timeframe? Or start on a Netflix series that you can actually discuss with people IRL? Or fucking just go hang out at a bar I don't know why do you play games that superficially simulate life advancement and really not much else? Think about it dude. If that sounds appealing to you then as far as games go this isn't much of a timesink. There's a very basal sort of pleasure in fighting a stupid enemy(Slight tangent but the AI should have been improved by now), getting gold, and buying a new piece of armor that looks slightly cooler than the one you currently have. I really think the reason why so many late 90's kids coveted Swords and Sandals II/III so much is the progression very few games at that time would actually let you see the armor that you bought and equipped.

The problem with Swords and Sandals is that it's always treated this sort of thing like a full game(It takes 5-10 hours at least to complete the main campaign in an average Swords and Sandals game). 15 years ago you would pick this shit up, play it impulsively for 40 minutes, then move on to the next flash game. It has the sort of gameplay that anyone who isn't objectively stupid will figure out in 5 minutes and master in 10. It's a kind of stupid that's mildly fun, I'll admit, but also the kind of thing that flourished mostly on sites like Armor Games, or Kongregate, or Miniclip or, hell, even notDoppler, if anyone remembers what that even is.
I'll tell you: Swords and Sandals is a phenomenally stupid game straight from 2005. Which I'd wager is basically anyone born after the year 2000. Now let's say you don't know what the fuck Swords and Sandals is. But for me, honestly, reading into a bunch of fantasy gargle, no matter how generic, tends to hook me into a game's world. The only real objective improvements are the artwork, which now looks less amateur(genuine compliment, by the way), and the addition of lore, in that there's ANY real lore. Really the biggest change is the gameplay loop is more refined(Mostly in the sense that skill acquisition and other things are paced slower, giving an even greater sense of progression that this series is known for). If you HAVE played through literally any S&S game, forget it there's nothing new here. If you didn't have that privilege as a kid then I could recommend this game. Some of us had the privilege of actually playing the full game.

We all remember looking up "Swords and Sandals II free download" back in the early 2000's. While that wouldn’t completely justify the price, it would make it rather more attractive as without porting them, most flash games are unplayable on the system.I get it. While I’m not sure if your staff has the people required for such an endeavor, I believe that all it takes to port a game to the PSP’s native executable format is usually just a wrapper that can translate the buttons into usable input for the game. On a somewhat related note, I think this game would, with a bit of polish to the character sprites and gameplay, make a passable homebrew game for the PSP. So, in essence, a “premium membership” that would allow access to a variety of full games, future and past, would be more attractive than a large price for what is a good, but not great, game. Perhaps a one time fee that offers the opportunity to play any future games on the home website would be worth the price, but for a single game, what amounts to approximately 40 USD is more than most console or premium games. 20 dollars, even in US money, is a LARGE amount to pay for a single flash game.
This is mostly in regard to the character sprites, the rest of the game is very good looking.Īs for the price, it’s a bit steep for a flash game that, even with some modicum of replayability, lacks the hallmarks of what are sometimes called “premium” games.

Not a deal breaker, to be sure, but they don’t feel as professional as they could. The graphics are a bit…not messy, but seem a bit low-fi. It’s somewhat unbalanced against magic users and guitar users, and if you don’t choose the “correct” equipment, talents and stats, you can get stuck against a boss and be unable to proceed.
Firstly, It’s an okay game but it has a few flaws. Well, I have a few opinions about this game.
